Corrections and right of reply
The framework we work to
There is no statutory right of reply in the United Kingdom. We operate our own corrections policy, written along the lines of generally recognised press standards on accuracy, and we apply it to anyone named or identifiable in something we have published.
How to exercise it
Send the request through the contact form, or by post to the editor, within three months of publication. Include the link, the date, and the sentences you dispute, with the correct information set against each one.
A reply for publication may not exceed the length of the original piece and must not contain material that is itself unlawful.
How it is handled
We acknowledge within three working days. Where the point is upheld, the article is corrected and a dated footnote is added saying what changed; we do not amend quietly. An admissible reply is published within three days of receipt, in a position equivalent to the original.
